Call for Nominations: Neural Networks Co-Editor-in-Chief

The International Neural Network Society (INNS) is now accepting nominations for the the position of Co-Editor-in-Chief (Co-EiC) of Neural Networks, the official journal of the INNS, published by Elsevier.
Neural Networks is a leading international journal that publishes high-quality research across all areas of neural networks, including theoretical developments, empirical studies, and practical applications. The journal currently operates with three Co-Editors-in-Chief and one Editor-in-Chief. With the current Editor-in-Chief's term concluding at the end of 2025, this new Co-EiC will play a crucial role. Once this new Co-EiC is selected, Elsevier will then appoint a new Editor-in-Chief for the journal.
As Neural Networks continues to grow in scope and influence, INNS is seeking an outstanding individual to join and help lead the editorial team, shaping its future direction. More information about the current editors can be found on the Neural Networks Journal page.
Responsibilities
The Co-Editor-in-Chief is responsible for:
- Setting the editorial vision and maintaining the journal’s high standards of scientific excellence.
- Overseeing the peer-review process and making decisions on submitted manuscripts.
- Appointments and changes to the editorial board.
- Coordinating with Elsevier on journal development, outreach, and day-to-day running of the journal.
- Reporting to the INNS on journal activities and collaborating with INNS on strategic planning.
The Co-Editor-in-Chief will begin their five-year term on 1 January 2026.
Qualifications
The nominee should have:
- A distinguished record of research in neural networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related fields.
- Editorial experience with scientific journals in the area of neural networks.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Vision for the development of the fields of neural networks and artificial intelligence, and the role of the journal.
Nomination Process
Nominations and self-nominations are welcome. Nominators must be current INNS members, whereas this is not a requirement for nominees.
Each nomination should include:
- A cover letter summarizing the nominee’s qualifications and vision for the journal.
- A statement describing the nominee’s past and current involvement in INNS activities.
- The nominee’s current curriculum vitae.
