Haibo He is the Robert Haas Endowed Chair Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI, USA. His main research interest is computational intelligence, with a particular focus on neural networks, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and data mining. He served/serves numerous capacities at the professional societies, including the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (2016 to 2021), IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) ADCOM (2021-2023), International Neural Network Society (INNS) Board of Governors (2022-2024), General Chair of IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI’14, Orlando, Florida), among others. He is a Fellow of IEEE. |

Neural Networks Journal 2023 Best Paper Award
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023 Neural Networks Best Paper Award are Suogui Dang, Yining Wu, Rui Yan, and Huajin Tang for their paper, “Why grid cells function as a metric for space". Danilo Mandic, INNS President, selected to receive the 2023 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Prize Paper Award
The IEEE Engineering and Biology Society (EMBS) has several journals under its remit, one of which is the IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine. Danilo Mandic and his research team published a paper in this journal on "Smart Helmet" and this paper has been selected to receive the 2023 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Prize Paper Award.
