College of Fellows Members | Life MembersSenior Members | In MemoriamINNS College of Fellows Members (as of 2025)Fellows of the Society are recognized for their scientific accomplishments and service to the Society. They are elected by the Board of Governors from nominees provided by vote of the College of Fellows from among the available pool of former Board of Governors members. Fellows are chosen both for their past service and achievements and in the expectation of their continued commitment to the Society.
Life Members (as of 2026)In 2025, INNS established the Life Member category to honor our most dedicated members for their decades of commitment. This prestigious status represents the pinnacle of long-term recognition within the Society. Since INNS does not track member age, this category serves as a meaningful way to celebrate those who have life-long contribution to our field and have anchored our community for an extended period.
Benefits of Life Membership:
There is no application process for this category. New Life Members are appointed annually by the Board of Governors during the Spring BoG meeting, based on a review of membership history.
Senior Members (as of 2025)In 2008 the INNS introduced a new membership category of Senior Member to recognize INNS members for their contributions, and to allow for a progression of the INNS members to a higher recognition membership status. The annual call for Senior Member Nominations generally takes place during the spring, under the following conditions:
